Making Jelly and Salsa

Hours of work, tedious, tiring.

Sieving grapes for jelly.

Stirring, stirring.

Sluicing skins from tomatoes.

Slicing onions.

Grating garlic.

Inhaling chili oil,

crying and coughing.

Pouring hot summer into hot jars.

Spreading jewels of jam on homemade toast.

Dipping chips into spicy salsa.

Sunshine jarred.

Come, winter, come.
